Welcome to Letters From Heidi, a refuge for truth seekers, deep-feelers, and the homesick searching for Eternity.

Hi friends,
My book, Unmasking the Prodigal Daughter, officially launches on Friday 23 January on Amazon, in paperback and Kindle ebook.
What can I expect from your book?
100 original poems, prose, and prayers weaved together to share my story from rebellion to redemption, and how the gospel speaks into universal themes of love, identity, shame, conflict, and healing from personal and intergenerational trauma.
Heartfelt illustrations from my daughter, Talitha Tai, who worked SO HARD to fill this book with her 4 year old magic. Here’s a sneak peak of her process behind-the-scenes:
An invitation to examine your own life with honesty and compassion in light of God’s promises of grace.
Words written with vulnerability, depth, and truth, as I give voice to the wounds that led to my prodigal past of lust, dishonesty, bitterness, and futility.
Accountability. Though my book speaks of personal wounds, I do not encourage victim mentality, cancel culture, or using past hurt to justify harmful behaviours. Instead, you will see an ongoing story of change and repentance, as I seek to follow a Saviour who seeks and saves the lost.
The next generation is searching for faith that can hold both pain and hope. As a young Asian American navigating life in a shifting, tense, and social-media-dominated world, it is rare to encounter voices that speak with genuine truth, love, and light. Heidi writes with a raw vulnerability that pierces the heart and invites readers to recognize themselves as prodigals—longing, searching, and hoping for more.

Who would benefit from my book?
This book was published from a heart of compassion for prodigal sons and daughters, and for anyone who has ever felt:
unwelcome or judged at church: “I’m too bad to belong here.”
unworthy, unclean, or unloved by God: “God could never love someone like me.”
anger or mistrust towards a God who claims to be ‘good’: “How can a good God allow this?”
stuck in family dysfunction and conflict due to cultural differences (East vs. West) or intergenerational trauma
a desire to grow and change but not knowing where to start
alone in their grief when people at church seem so joyful and perfect
frustration over ‘big sins’ or personal issues that are too taboo to address
heartbreak, confusion, or impatience towards a Prodigal you love and care about
“It is so rare to read such honest words from a Christian female Asian author, but these words are exactly what we need. They are the reminder that we are not alone and that no iron prison of perfection or imperfection can hold off the redeeming, restoring love of God.”
Anna Tran, Writer at Heart & Hope
How much does it cost and where can I buy it?

What’s next for your pen?
My family and I are preparing for a 3 month sabbatical (February-April) to enjoy much-needed rest and recharge. For this reason, I may not be as active on social media or sending out Letters from Heidi during this time.
Once I return from holidays, I will restart my monthly newsletters and attempt to complete a couple more books which are currently hiding in my drafts box!
To stay in touch with my writing and future works, make sure to subscribe to this newsletter or to follow me on Instagram.
