Welcome to Letters From Heidi, a refuge for truth seekers, deep-feelers, and the homesick searching for Eternity.

Dear friend,
This month, I am taking a break from long form writing to share two heartfelt pieces from My Poetry Nook. The poems reflect my current season of life where I’m thinking deeply about life transitions, motherhood, sacrifice, the brevity of life, and the promises of Eternity. Thank you from The Sunday Morning Snuggle whose poems have inspired this letter.
Before I begin, I would like to thank and for their gift of a paid subscription. Thank you also to Richard, Aspen and Thinh for tipping The Dragon & The Rooster with a coffee. Your generosity enables my words to be written and published!
I Met My Younger Self for Coffee
Note: Original poem and poetry prompt by Jennae Cecelia.

I met my younger self for coffee
we aimed to be casually late
we were both 5 minutes early
~
She talked
and talked
and talked
I listened
(carefully)
~
She tells me
the world isn’t fair
that only fools
believe in truth
and goodness
~
She tells me
the world is broken
that mothers birthing children
are cruel
but courageous
~
She tells me
the world is burning
so why not play with fire
and leave the serious stuff
for later?
~
I want to tell her
one day her world will become
b i g g e r, brighter
and more beautiful
than she could ever dare to imagine
~
I want to tell her
Youth’s wisdom is
fallible but flexible
capable of fault and error
but also growth and sanctification
~
I want to tell her
Eternity has been promised
to her
her child
and the world to come
~
But I don’t speak.I listen (patiently)
~
and insist on a goodbye hug
knowing all she ever wanted
was to be seen, known
& loved.
My Mother’s Love
For my Por Por, mother, and mother-in-law.
~
My mother’s love
is strong but silent
served in steamed buns
crisp red envelopes
and cups of oolong tea
~
My mother’s love
lingers in a homeland
she no longer remembers
for she left to build a world
where girls could dare to dream
~
My mother’s love
is a divine mystery
a window to a greater Love—
one which angels longed to see
and yet by grace was revealed to me.

Touched by “My Mother’s Love”. I have no idea what I would ever say to my younger self. Unless to cherish family and friends more through the years. You never know when the last opportunity passes you by.
Heidi, this whole post makes me so freaking happy. LOVE YOUR POEMS GIRL. Keep going! More poems!!! Got chills with the second one 💛💛💛
